Adv. Saveena Bedi Sachar is an Indian advocate who practices before the Supreme Court of India, Bombay High Court and several other Courts, Forums and Tribunals including the Competition Commission of India, Consumer Courts, the Copyright Board, Company Law Board, NCLT and TDSAT and represents several parties in Arbitration proceedings in India and at International level across US and Europe.

She is a BA, LLB having specialized in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Cyber Laws and Cyber Crime with certification from the prestigious World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Switzerland and is one of the youngest co-authors of a Book on Intellectual Property Rights, published by Butterworths, U.K.

Having worked for several years, heading the legal function in leading Indian and Multinational companies viz. Walt Disney, UTV, Star TV, INX Media (9X, 9XM and NewsX), Ac Nielsen, Ogilvy and Mather (O&M) and Music Broadcast Private Limited (Radio City 91.1FM ), Adv. Saveena Sachar established her own law firm ‘Lawhive Associates’ in June 2012.

Within a couple of years of founding her law firm, she has successfully led the firm to transition from traditional Intellectual Property and Media and Entertainment practice to a leading full-service law firm. Her law firm, ‘Lawhive Associates’ now handles various civil and criminal matters including corporate advisory, national and international arbitrations, dispute resolution, bankruptcy and liquidation matters, family law, real estate, information technology, labour law and private client advisory and is primarily engaged in providing diverse legal services within the Intellectual Property, Media & Entertainment (Film, Theatre and Television), New Media, Advertising, Telecom, Ecommerce, IT and ITes Insurance, Health Care, Hospitality, Real Estate and Construction sectors.

Adv. Saveena Bedi Sachar also has a successful global litigation practice and has handled high-stake litigations before the Supreme Court of India, Bombay High Court and several other Courts, Forums and Tribunals including the Competition Commission of India, Consumer Courts, the Copyright Board, Company Law Board, NCLT and TDSAT and international arbitrations and cases across US (including JAMS New York) and Europe (including Hamburg, Germany and France)

She has also successfully represented various trade unions of the Film industry across all 24 crafts (including Writers, Directors, Actors, Art Directors, Stuntmen, Music Directors, etc.) and has also handled several matters related to labour laws and trade unions.

Adv. Saveena Bedi Sachar handled the first major case related to fixation of royalty rates and compulsory licensing against the Copyright Societies known as Phonographic Performance Limited and Indian Performance Rights Society, at the Mumbai and Delhi High Courts, the Copyright Board and the Supreme Court.

She was also instrumental in challenging the right to collect royalties from Radio broadcasters and in the alternative fixation of reasonable rates of royalty along with recovery of amounts already paid, before the Mumbai, Delhi and Hyderabad High Court, the Copyright Board and the Supreme Court.

She has represented various high profile clients across various facets of law including defamation suits, POSH, POSCO, commercial suits, criminal and civil cases, matrimonial disputes as well as in disputes relating to intellectual property rights and competition commission.

Her corporate clients have included prominent multinationals in various fields including television, film, music, radio, theatre, newspaper, advertising, hospitality, healthcare, new media and publishing industries and she has provided legal services to numerous public figures, celebrities, producers, writers, musicians, production houses and other leading personalities from different industries.
